Yak In The Attic

Yak in the attic is a new arts and crafts company based in the valleys of South Wales. The idea behind it is to give an opportunity for small independent UK crafters to make their handiwork available through the gateway of the internet. Its companion company Tibetan Dawn, has been running since November 2005 and has proved popular over the years with customers in search of both Tibetan and Indian arts and crafts.

Yak in the attic has been a dreamt up by Meryl Tsering, whilst travelling through India in search of stock for her first company Tibetan Dawn, in which she is a partner. Sourcing ecological and fairly traded goods proved to be quite a thorny business as you are so reliant on the trust and information given by overseas suppliers. She felt that the only way to be certain of where and how your items were produced was to be more in control of the conditions and manufacture of the crafts she was selling.

Hence came about the dawn of Yak in the Attic. With her interest in the creative arts of sewing, writing and photography, Meryl felt it was time to broaden her horizons and to put her skills to good use. So here we are, at the beginning of a new sole concern, which she will run alongside the successful Tibetan Dawn.
